Here in East Anglia we were warned of heavy snow last night and today. Where I live we have not had a flake for over 24hrs. Is has been warm enough to melt all the snow that was already on the ground. So,how do the forecasters get it so wrong?
It's not exactly 'so wrong' - they didn't forecast a heatwave, did they? I really feel sorry for the weathermen and women out there. While there is a certain amount of predictability, they are not fortune tellers, things can change unpredictably. Just be glad you didn't get the heavy snow!
The snow here in lancashire is not shifting at all, still 4 - 6 inches just sitting there looking very very white!!!! They have given light snow showers for tonight though, which could mean anything snow related!
Meteorology has never been an exact science. Its based up patterns and predictions which can often change. We had 12 inches of snow of Tuesday night wheres Winchester, not 20 miles away only had 1 inch.
They tend to say 'it will snow in the South East' - a huge area Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire. It could well snow in the South East, but not all areas.
#1 yes they did get it 'so wrong'.and saying 'they didnt forecast a heatwave' not really sure what you mean by that. We were warned to expect between 4 and 8 inches of snow and we got nothing.not even a small flurry. No they are not fortune tellers, but I do expect them to give me a reasonable expectation of the weather to come in the next few hours.
#3 I dont think I will be taking too much notice in the future
