/// The report also calls for the introduction of candidate lists that exclude white people ///
Rather than set quotas of women/minorities/Disabled/homosexuals etc. wouldn't it be better to have short lists of candidates that are more representative of persons experienced in real life issues, instead of the usual ex-public school educated individuals that have no idea of what life is like for he majority of the electorate?

When Conservative Central Office compiles its A list, from which candidates are drawn,it doesn't pick many like that and when it parachutes a so-called star candidate into a selection, with a heavy hint that that's the one they want selected, that candidate is invariably one of those whose whole career has been in politics, right from university. The Labour Party is not , now, any different. The Parties have shown no interest in trying to change that; this is not surprising as more and more MPs and party staff are of precisely that background.

do we not prefer the best candidates based solely on merit and capability?
we all deserve to be able vote for representation on that basis
i wish to be able to choose from capable committed candidates regardless of colour, creed, sex etc
if the choices are dumbed down then the quality of mp will surely go lower
