why does my cats ears smell of cheese?

hi, my cats ears smell horrible!! like cheese!! i havent the money to take him to the vets for a couple of weeks. is there anything i could try at home? thanks in advance :)

I agree with redhelen in that you need to get his ears checked. Is it causing him any obvious irritation - scratching, head shaking, holding his head down?
There are treatments available over the counter but you should find out exactly what it is. Could you not explain the situation to the vet and ask if the account could be paid later? Many vets will do this, particularly if the cat is in distress. Hope he's soon better

I agree with the other replies, your cat needs a vet. Give them a ring at least and ask for some advice, and explain you can't afford to bring him at the moment. They migh give you suggestions over the phone - it's worth a try.
