disability benefit and medicals
1 Answers
my 37 year old son has been on disability benefit for a long time. he suffers from a problem walking in which he 'feels unsteady' on his feet and he feels ike 'he's walking on foam rubber all the time. he can't keep still even when he's sitting. he can't move his head from vertical because he feels like he's going to fall if he does. travelling on /in vehicles makes him so much worse. he has been asked to travel 6 miles to a mediacal centre for a medical. there is no car park and he has to go by car, then on foot. he finds this very distressful and doesn't feel well for days after. can i ask for him to be seen somewhere closer to home, ie in his GP surgery?

If the assessor is able to witness the physical and mental distress travel causes it will only help to reinforce a diagnosis that will keep your son's benefit in place, indeed he may even go onto the higher element.
