Hi, I've been going out with my boyfriend for two years now and he never wants to come to any family weddings or get-togethers and he never invites me to any family celebrations on his side either. I would have though that after going out for two years, that that's the kind of thing we would do together. Also, it was the funeral of a granduncle of his yesterday and he told his ex about the funeral, so she came along. When we were all assembled outside the church, he went straight over to her, bypassing me, and put his arm around her. It was only after she had gone that he acknowledged me or put his arm around me. I kind of think this is all a bit wrong but I've never gone out with anyone before so maybe this is normal? It does make me wonder though. Am I just being paranoid?

He tells me nearly every day that he loves me though! He's not a nasty guy, believe me. It's just this one thing that gets me. I'm at the point now where I feel I can't bring it up coz he'll just get p-d off at me for always bringing the same thing up again and again with him. Oh anyway, it's not worth worrying about coz it's not going to change now. Thanks though.
I do hope you're joking dizmouk..... I'd slap you back.
But if you arent happy then you shoudl talk and if he gets annoyed at you talking about your feeling then say would he rather you kept them bottled up. A relationship is all about trsut and talking to eachother. Where do you want it to go? 2 years is a long time together.
hmmm well I'd never slap anyone, especially not a female. To be honest with you I never expected anyone to notice what I wrote. Theres some huge paragraphs going in on this thread I just expected it to be missed. In all fairness though sometimes a slap is a good enough wake up call.
"He'd never tell me how he feels about me and he's said to me a couple of times how " he loves me despite my faults"!!!???"

could it be 'those' faults that he's 'ashamed' of?
you're talking to the wrong woman about that dizmouk - I've been at the receiving end of more than just a slap, more than just a 'wake-up call'. It's not a laughing matter in my book.

ratty - get yourself some self-esteem & pride. Tell him he ought to be showing you off & proud of you.... or else you'll find someone that does.
Thats like saying "I love you but you're ugly", it's not a nice thing to hear is it :/
Well I apologise if I've upset you sallabananas, I never intended to.

Haha! Maybe it is ALL my faults! Well, if it is, to hell with him coz he won't find anyone faultless! It's just something that annoys me coz I'd like to be able to bring a boyfriend to family things. Surely it's not too obscene or weird?!
It's neither obscene or weird ratty - it's perfectly normal.
What are these faults he refers to? And, remind him of his!

pussy's been munching on the magic mushrooms again....?!
stop speaking in parables, Pusspuss!

Should I break it off with him then?
Do what you want...we're just a bunch of strangers.

By the looks of it though he didn't have a problem going up to ex in an affectionate manner and in public.
quite right Ummmm
That's not for us to say ratty - only you can make that decision. We can't, just on the basis of what you've said here.

But, you may have discussed this with him already, but there's plenty of discussion still to be had if you ask me.
