Ok, cazzz ... here's my "take" on drivers, from someone who's actually used one (ie not me)

Metal is stiffer, and good if you have a fast swing.

Graphite is good if you have a slower swing, because the whipiness in the shaft adds some head speed at impact, but at the expense of a bit of "feel"

steel shafts are cheaper to make, they are an older technology, they are heavier and create more shock vibration back through your wrists and hands, not necessarily for a faster swing speed

graphites are lighter and flexible, they have reduced shock vibration, they can be made to differing levels of ability from ladies to extra stiff for fast swing speeds.

its a preference thing, I know a lot of older guys who use steel who have slower swing speeds
