MM Links Solutions January 2010 [Week 2]

Well, The Regal Roslyn (aka roslyn251254) proved more than able to turn off the tap which controls the flow of points at will ~ as she demonstrated this week by setting open-ended challenges. You’ll see what I mean, when I tell you that her chosen links were for the theme “What a Racket”:

KANGAROO Court
Net CURTAINS
CRYSTAL Ball
Match MAKER

Please notice kawakiri and rockfordill that the selected links have nothing to do with Racket Sports. You must try to be a little more devious and apply lateral thinking. This week caught many regulars on the hop and allowed one or two to catch up with last week’s leaders.

The first few entrants were off the mark and it took lysander to “make a match” with MATCH MAKER for TWO POINTS. She was immediately followed by Dustybun who was peeping from behind NET CURTAINS for TWO MORE POINTS. I must confess that last week I overlooked Dusty having “several buns in the oven”, so she will appear this week on the league table with her FOUR POINTS to become one of the joint leaders.

We then had to wait until “Gypsy Rose Slaney” dropped in at 09.04 gazing into her CRYSTAL BALL and predicting another TWO POINTS gone! She was followed by a second Match Maker in the guise of seekeerz, all the way from Oz. There then followed the highlight of the Round when kettledrum called for a KANGAROO COURT (where were you seekeerz?) to go with her slightly late Net Curtains for an impressive THREE POINTS. There can be no doubt that kettledrum deserves the coveted title of “Hot Shot of the Week” (not for the first time!)
*** Let trumpets sound and canons roar ***
*** Let crowds go wild and yell “Encore!” ***

As the game rumbled on a close, only ladyalex and wickedtongue managed to pick up a single point in one of the lowest scoring games for some time.

The League Table after this second week is:

FOUR POINTS: Dustybun, evsajo, grannydi, miss meg, slaney & ulysses
THREE POINTS: kettledrum & lysander
TWO POINTS: BigMac, centrino, cliffyg, gen2, Grenmus, Jools, ladyalex, seekeerz, SHAZZA & Strix
ONE POINT: Aquagility, deecee, fordward, jobjockey, joto, patchett, rockfordill, teacher, twix123, wickedtongue & x-ray

As you can see, none of the front-runners of last week was able to pull ahead and it has been a week of catch up. Virtually anyone can win the first MM Links Crown of 2010, but you need to be in it to win it!

Golly! Not just Hot Shot of the Week, but I've made an appearance on the Leader Board! I don't think that's ever happened before. Thanks Crofter & Regal Roslyn.

Jan, The shrubbery was opened in 'Crosswords' instead of 'Q & P' by mistake. Many missed it. I only spotted it because it cropped up in the 'Recent Posts' pod.

Thank you Crofter & Regal Roslyn - Nul points for me this week. I think I'll have a day in bed next Saturday - for all the difference it'll make!

Well done Kettledrum, and thanks Regal Roslyn (even though I didn't get a point) and Crofter for words and scores. I am still up there with the others but nil points ???? What has gone wrong ??? Must improve for next week (just to wind Crofter up if I get any points !! lol)
