Do the powers-that-be have the cojones to drop his sorry ass, chirpy?
Yes, on his day he is good enough to play for England but he's got to shrug the other players in the team off his shoulders and realise that he can't carry the rest of them (Not that he is and ONLY Paul Collingwood can do that). He's just a batsman and part-time bowler now so he's got to concentrate on playing himself in and building his innings. Smashing someone to the boundary for six to reach a hundred and holing out won't wash with the fans or selectors for much longer. The suicidal run-out and his shot selection (In general) in SA have not helped his cause either.
He is good enough but at the moment seems to be right off form. he should be dropped for now. I suspect that would extract some effort from him to get back into the team.
That edict is fine as long as you continue to show class. On current form, he is living on his past glories, pure and simple.
A spell out of the side may re-ignite his ability because he will have to work at it, as opposed to the current easy ride and free meal ticket he's getting.
Seemed to work for Bell when he got dropped for a Test or two.
