My stepson, who lives with his mother, put our WEP key number from our wireless router in his IPOD, whilst he was at our house. He was not previously wirelaess at his house, but now he is, all of a sudden. Is it possible he could have used our WEP key for wireless interent games etc at his house? Could they use it to get wireless internet connection? They live a couple of miles away, also is there any secuirity implications? Sorry to appear dim, dont know about these things, but i have been abit worried because his mother is a dishones person.

Thank you

Most normal wireless setups have a typical maximum range of about 300m with a clear line of sight, any walls or other obstructions in the way dramatically decrease this range.

So he is not using your wireless at home, either he is using his own or a neighbours

If his nighbours have the same make of wirless router as we have, which is very popular, could they be using our WEP key to enable them to become wireless?
very unlikely

More likely they have no security setup on theirs at all.
