Top if the list when you searched for what though?
If you made a single page titled "the purple cheese and elephant society" and then done a search on "purple cheese and elephants" it would be the top of the list!
Google relies a lot on how many links there are to your site from other sites, get a lot of links to your site then you will appear higher.
Also make sure all your pages have titles and all contain clearly readable text that includes any words that you think would be relevant for people searching for your site.
