Pufflette,
We have dear friends in Eire, who are 34 and 36 respectively.
They have 3 children.
Even now,in the 21st Century they live under the control of their parish priest.
They don't live in a small village, but a largish town.
They obey all he says.
They take his word before their Mother and Father's.
To a certain extent they live in fear of their priest.
This is not an exception in Eire.
When you can have a Goverment that allows a the Irish Church to offer millions of pounds in compensation to abuse victims, if it is allowed exemption from prosecution,I think you will see that (sadly) Catholicism will not be finished for a long time in Eire.

Hi jno, you are right in one way that the focus should be on Jesus Christ rather on His failing servants. On the other hand, someone stated on the radio that the harshest/starkest warning in the Bible seems to be address the issue of causing harm to young people's faith in God.
Mark 9 v 42"And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck
