would you lie to save hurting someones feeling?

I refer to the last episode of Corrie..
Molly HAD being having an affair but told her hubby there was no one else.....before leaving him..(bet she turns up in D.O.I or Strictly next year..lol )

But how far would you go so as not to hurt someone?

Well if my friend asked if her husband was having an affair....and I new he was. I'd tell the truth. I wouldn't offer the info though.

If my friend asked if people thought she/he was ugly....and I new they did...I would lie

The reason I don't lie is because I can't. I learnt that at a pretty young age.

In general terms I wouldn't tell lies to spare feelings. In the run of the mill situation ,if a friend asked the question --"do you like my dress?", and I didn't, I would say " I think that you will look good in that".
In a relationship situation , if I was asked "had I found someone else?", I would have to tell the truth and say "yes I have and I am sorry that things have worked out this way"
I think I would always try , if I could to leave the questioner with some self respect and dignity.

Sometimes in life there is no clear right course of action, and one has to opt for the least wrong one. I'm not saying I would'nt lie to save someone's feelings, but the priority I put oon truth menas my natural inclination is not to. I'd have to judge each circumstance on its own merits.
