Prescription only :) I'm a god boy lol.
I'm taking Amitriptyline, but I'm going to the doctors soon to tell them it's causing more problem than it's doing good. So I will probably get put on something else....
Oh thats a bu$$er of a drug, it can cause hallucinations and really mess up sleep etc ask if you can change!! I`m sure it has its place but I speak from family experience
Well it's one of those anti depressants that can be used to treat physical pain, migranes and other stuff. I don't think it have ever been medically tested but it does work for some people. It's sort of doing the job but I don't agree with putting someone on an anti depressant if they aren't clinically depressed. Codeine was working fine but my body was getting used to the drug (not to mention it had to be getting addictive). I might just put up with the pain instead of knackering my liver/kidneys. Sometimes though the pain is so unbarable I'm unable to get on with everyday life...
I've had amiitriptyline prescribed twice and didn't get on with it,it either knocked me out( 1st time)or didn't do what the Dr wanted(2nd time)
If you are on it for the same reasons I have had it,go and tell the Dr its not good, cos as with most medicines these days there are many alternatives.
First think most Drs ask is 'are you drinking alcohol?
'Well" I say 'just a little....to help it down';-)
On average I was taking 210mgs of codeine and 3.5gs of paracetamol a day. So on average I was taking 100 tablets in 14 days. Luckly I have a prepay prescription certificate otherwise it would be costing a fortune. £72 worth of prescriptions every month :/
Yes its commonly used for nerve pain but the sides are awful, I wish you great luck in getting the right balance to help your pain, I understaand the difficullty, must go alarm is set ((HUG))
aya apart from last night (lol) I only drink maybe once a week, I've gone from drinking a few beers each day to nothing, not suddenly. My doctor has never asked if I drink :(
My skin has gone yellow before but that was because I was eating loads of carrots lol. My liver is probably the size of a rugby ball but I doubt that is completely down to alcohol. Drinking gets boring anyways!
I'm sorry Diz,I suffer from nerve pain and had a very, very bad experience with a drug called Gabapentin so I can relate to bad pain and do not mean to have a go about drinking and drugs.Sometimes a shot works much better than a pill.
Its the paracetamol that is supposed to be bad for you but the way they(medics) advise it for everything when I was in hospital you would think it was a miracle cure all drug.
Sweet snoozes Aya
