The recent onslaught of television adverts wanting to purchase our pieces of gold?
They are so keen it seems that they even make it easy by sending Royal Mail Special Delivery packaging etc. in which to submit it.
Methinks they are so keen because they are buying gold for less than its true value. Why else would they be so persuasive? I hope people realise that if they do have gold items in their posession, there is more value in keeping it as gold rather than exchanging it for cash, unless of course they are in desperate need of the cash.
However, it would be a good idea to find out how much gold is going for before parting with your small collection for less than its true value. Does anyone know where to check the current buying price of gold?
Incidentally, I would not want to send gold items through the post especially since these special envelopes all too readily indicate what they contain and, not being registered, are therefore open to theft.

Google Cooksons Metals
I studied what these postal buying services are all about a few months ago.
They in general will not give you a buying price over the phone per gram for 9ct / 18ct/24ct.
In general they pay only approx 20% of what the true value is.
Simply take your Gold to Cooksons ...they buy over the counter and give you he true price.
I sold some scrap gold last month.
Who do you think pays for those TV Ads and the wages for theses company ?
Simple answer ... the mugs who use them ...

RJUKL:
You're incorrect when you state that the envelopes aren't 'registered'.
'Registered Delivery', per se, no longer exists. The service has been replaced with 'Special Delivery', which does exactly the same thing (i.e. mail is kept separate to other postal items, tracked throughout the delivery process and signed for upon delivery). However it also provides guaranteed delivery times, as well as offering a choice of compensation levels.
