Hi all, can you help? Is it true that the best side of a fence has to face your neighbour, and what do you do about it if its already up?

I would imagine as long as the posts are within the fence owners boundary line and not on your neighbours land, you could have it either way.
My dad was a landscape gardener for a few years and he always told me that if you wanted to put a fence between you and your neighbours garden you have to have the 'ugly' side. I suppose its the arguement that it was your idea to have put the fence up so you can have the ugly side. If its already up i wouldnt think you would have to change it as they were probably there when it was erected and never disagreed with having that side
