Hi bevs,
a couple of tablespoons or a little more. You can also 'feed' the cake once baked x

thankyou whenever i put a food Q on here u always answer wot about my xmas cake coming out a bit dry could it have been in the oven too long or wot extra can i put in to make it more moist
Do I ? lol!
Over dry cake, possibly in too long? Maybe reduce temp. a little & test cake with a skewer in the centre. If the scewer comes out clean it's fully baked x

thanx sachs it went in middle of oven for a loooooong time on gas 3
I find you can't always rely on recipe times, every oven is different so just keep an eye on it! Sounds yummy anyway! x
i never soak fruit and my cakes always come out perfect :)
i just made 2 more all bran cakes this afternoon and they're beautiful. cheapo sultanas and chopped up leftover prunes were the fruit of choice.
Generally used on rich fruit cakes/ special occasion cakes such as bevs x
Those 'Allbran' cakes are really lovely, like a tea bread & healthy too!

sounds good yep i love cake decorating i do it as a hobby but i have been ask why dont i start a bussiness no qualifications and not confident enough .i made my daughter a princess doll cake but to make u laugh it was last november and she was 18 but it did go down a treat.
I only did it as a hobby too bevs. Not decorated a cake in ages! Well, made a Victoria sponge and covered it in Cadburys choc the other day but no skill in that! I think if I had to bake to order it would become more of a chore than a pleasure to me personally. I enjoy the odd bakeathon & the eating of it later, that's about it!
I'm sure you have a flare for baking, why not check out the local college & get some formal qualifications in baking & decorating! It might give you that confidence you think you lack & launch you! Best wishes anyway bevs x
