Snopes.com do you know anything about it?

I used to believe emails sent to me warning of viruses etc were genuine and faithfully passed them on to my email buddies until my brother pointed out to me that they were hoaxes designed to clog up the Internet and so I duly stopped and checked with Snopes.com as to their validity. Now I read that the people who set up Snopes (pronounced snoops).com started it all as a joke and they themselves have been hoaxing the pubic all along. It is so confusing as one begins to wonder if it is true that they have been duping us all along, or if in fact it is a hoax in itself that they have been
