Did anyone see my question on "Human poos - should they sink or float" in the science section?  Sorry if it offends anyone, but I am genuinely interested in finding out an answer.  The science heads have come up with 2 suggestions but any more would be very welcome.

Thanks,

Shivvy (a sinker)

Serious answer - I heard that floating is a sign of a low fat diet.
I think that if you have many "floaters" you should see a doctor.
Floaters ususally mean a person is anaemic shivvy.
maybe floaters have more air in them
A floater is a sign of lots of roughage in the diet, in other words, a good thing!

I once got really wound up about this, explained my worries to a doctor friend at work, and he laughed and said "WIND!". So they might float after a vindaloo....

Let's hope planestinker doesn't see this thread. Some of us are now thinking he is poo-specialist. But he probably hasn't got the savvy to go anywhere beyond CB.

Nice one, mfewell.!!!!

As acw said... I heard that is was a sign of not enought fat in the diet if it floats. x

That is not logical Fairy.  Fat is lighter than water which is why it always floats.  So logically, floating stools would indicate too much fat not too little.  For the record I believe Impret-sir is correct, its a sign of a diet with plenty of fibre.
I agree with depressedmgl, I always heard it was a sign of too much fat.

They only normally sink after hitting an iceberg.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Once I work out which weighs less - fat, roughage, air or water - I can tell my friend to cut it out of his diet!!
