Hello, Me and my housemates have a very big ant problem. They seem to be all over our kitchen no matter what we do. We tried to buy some ant powder the other day but every shops we tried said they didn't do it. Until we get some does anyone know of a good remedy to get rid of the little b*ggers?

If you can't tell where they are coming from, just sprinkle it all over the floor! Apparently it isn't very good for them, gunges up their insides or something. ALso it is not bad for you unlike something more powerful, so you can be as liberal as you like!
If you don't have any talcum powder I'm wondering if flour would work in the same way?
I take it the are common black ants, which are harmless if very annoying. And they don't bite or sting. Morgmonster is right, you need to find out where the nest is, once you have done that then kill it with something like Raid. You can also get that product with a fine pipe for getting into crevices etc.
On the plus side, you won't get other pests like silver fish, the ants eat the grubs.
The spray Peri talks of is very good. A similar one is Deathlac available from wilko's or for a very strong one Nuvan Staykill, only available signed for from the vets. Any creepy-crawley walking over this laquered area will die within minuets.
Ants are notoriously difficult to get rid of. It seems you clear them from one place only for them to show up elsewhere.
I have not heard of the talc theory but it certainly sounds worth a try!
