King Kong

What do you think the new version of 'King Kong' will be like. Will it be better than the original or do you think it wont be as good? I hope it lives up to expectations, but i cant see it bettering the original. The original may be old, but it is a movie masterpiece!

i fear that this movie will very much be a case of style over content.it looks great but at the end of the day how good can a movie about a giant ape be in the 21st century ?! i think true classics should be left alone.

I agree, better special effects doesn't neccessarily make a better film.  Can you think of any remakes that were better than the original? (magicbeatle, hope you don't mind me asking a Q on your thread)

I agree... I think they should leave the classic films alone.  I can't see this being better than the original.

One of Sky's film magazine progs had a trailer for KK on the other day - it looked great, but they always put the best bits in trailers...

Plus, it reminded me of Jurassic Park as it had quite a few similar dinosaurs, with KK fighting them!

just remember this re-make has peter lord of the rings jackson as it's director. i'm not a fan of the triolgy simply cos i prefer somthing a little lighter. pleased to see andy serkis is in it, try 24 hour party people as an example of his acting. classic film, good cast and a top director. it's gotta be worth a look...

don't know why someone of Jackson's talent is doing remakes, but I have highish hopes.  justineo, The Maltese Falcon was a remake (2nd one, I think). Other people think highly of remakes like Ocean's Eleven, though I don't. I suppose even Lord of the Rings is a remake, since there was a cartoon version, but Jackson's version didn't really remake it so much as refilm the original book.
