15a - ATTRACT (means your answer to 14d is not ATHEIST but SCEPTIC instead)
16d - I think is RASCAL
1d - The definition is ANNULUS, which obviously will not fit. I don't think the last letter is S, but O or E, as 9a is either COGITATE or MEDITATE.
21a - PRESERVE
19d - Don't know, but is -E-T-, which could be HEFTY but is a bit obscure
