Compared to a toaster, a microwave grill element will take a good bit longer to heat up. Having done one side of the toast, you'll have to switch it off before turning the bread to do the other side. Buy a toaster, but get a deep one. Most budget toasters aren't deep enough, leaving part of the bread sticking out and not toasted.
Why do they make toasters which cannot (fully) accommodate normal size slices of bread ?
All it takes is for the designer to either buy a loaf, or just go into a supermarket and measure some bread. Then they will know what size the toaster needs to be.
A similar principle applies for wallets (re £20 notes).
And why do people buy those toast bags for doing a toasted sandwich in their toaster........how many toasters do you know that will take something that wide.
