Are you sure that you've typed the '8 + 9 = 96' correctly? I'd have expected to see '8 + 4 =96'
That's because the other examples seem to do the addition correctly (e.g. 2 + 3 = 5) and then multiply the result by the first number. (5 x 2 =10).
Assuming that there's a typo in that 4th line, that means that 9 + 7 = 144

(IQ measured, at various times, between 138 and 143 - so I'm probably completely wrong!)
I thought 144 add the two numbers then multiply the answer by the first number. It doesn't work for 8+9 which should give you 136 not 96. Back to the drawing board!
I aqnswered this question over a week ago and it was as everyone has stated by adding the two numbers and multiplying by the first number therefore youmust have posed the question wrongly.
My sincere apologies to all contributors for the delay in replying and more so for the incorrect information i supplied.
As you all rightly spotted the last sum should have been
8 + 4 = 96
