Every weekend we go out to spend some of our hard earned dough, shall we go to PC World ah yes, we need some item, we no sooner go through the door " Can I help you" I walk straight back out, I understand that the shop assistants have been told to do this, but do you think they are going overboard & sending the customers back out of the shops?

Only a market trader, but I always leave the customers to browse and just call out 'hello, let me know if you need any help'. Or if I am with another customer, I call out 'I'll be with you in a minute', just so they know they are not being ignored. Nothing p!sses me off more than people who push their money at you when you are busy serving another customer.

Aww see I just see the assistants as people trying to earn a crust and having to approach potential customers knowing full well that 50% of the time they will be treated like dirt.
I always just reply 'i'll give you a shout if I need a help thanks' and smile.Doesnt hurt.

Same with cold callers.

I see them as people who could be my son or daughter who rather than sign on the dole are prepared to put themselves in the firing line of abuse so I treat them with respect.Its just as easy to say no thank you as bugger off.

"Hi, can I help you?"
