Has anyone ever gone to a car dealer and swaped outright one or two medium valued seconed hand cars for one new car.

You can do it - but you would do better selling both cars privately and then going in with cash - most dealers give an over allowance to inflate the price of the part exchange - there is only one of these so you will get book (trade value) for one of the cars
