I have a soft spot for Jamaicans ever since my visit there... and especially since seeing Speedo Steve sauntering across the sand. Big Bamboo-ey... ;-)
There was also Caspar who spent 12 hours a day sweeping up sand - the monotony of which was broken by hiding behind a palm tree for a stoke up of his Ganja, and Albert who must have been at least 117 and made sunhats for the tourists out of palm leaves. And the maid who I gave my wedding shoes to, that I thought were trashed & she is probably still swanning & swirling around in today. Happy days. While they lasted. :-(
I managed Dunns River Falls, without stopping. My GOd, don't think I could do that today... they'd be carrying me off with an oxygen tank and a stretcher.
but, maybe again one day... wishful thinking.
I stayed in a place called Runaway Bay, north of the island between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. I could runaway there again tomorrow...
I was booked to go to Coco Reef in Tobago in May 2005, and I'd upgraded us to fly first class going there, but had to cancel to attend an inquest. I will definitely rebook it one day.
