I need some advice: What are the implications of calling crime stoppers

I hope someone can give me some seriously good information of what to do, There is a 20 year old that only lives 2 doors down and is a really bad lad, He drinks heavily and it was not to long ago we had the police down here as he had a nife and tried to kill someone, he is going to caught for burglary this month,he has loads of tickets for drunk and disorderly with intent which he does not appear in court for , Well on wednesday night he attacked somone bad and the person he attacked went off in an ambulance with serious head injuries, The lad did no more than go to a hospital 30 miles in the different direction to where the other man went to to get his arm seen, He has 5 broken bones in his arm and needs surgery in the morning..... He is such an *** if i was to contact crimestoppers and give them the information they need i am sure they will know my telephone number and who i am can anyone give me any advice as i was not at the incident or do i want the police on my doorstep, do i ring them or not,

Sorry yes it is for real, but i do know this did actually happened, I did not whitness the attack, but the lads dads girlfriend has just told me this and the lad has to be in at 7.30am for the operation tomorrow,.... in my original post she was the one he attacked last year as he was so high on grugs he tried to kick down her door with a knife in his hand threatning to kill her as he thought she was having an affair with someone else,
Just call the police , someone was murdered here as a person
thought it was a domestic ...the bloke got 17years , he was a phycho ...
the police don't release your name .

Thankyou theonlyone.... This lad is not all the ticket and has had a troubled upbringing, The thing is that i am thinking of the blokes parents and how they are feeling as i have children myself i am wondering what it would be like for them or if it was my child seriously ill and someone new something and never said i have come to my own conclusions that i feel it is wrong not to do something
