sherrardk, my dad had exactly the same as your mum. he had surgery to remove the tumour and when he was fully recovered from the op, he was given chemo. he attended the hospital once a week and was given it by injection into the back of his hand. he didn't complete the course as he broke out in mouth ulcers and had other side effects too. he continued to have check-ups regularly at the hospital although he didn't have any further treatment. he lived for another 3 years and it was only in the very last month he complained of feeling 'uncomfortable', not in pain but just uncomfortable. he was admitted to the hospice as his stomach became very distended and they were hoping to be able to drain some fluid, which they couldn't, and also give him some morphine. he was made very comfortable and died very peacefully after being in the hospice for 6 days. he was 78.
