Cats booster jabs.

Tobergill here again...........
Should we or should we not give Booster Jabs to our cats.
There seems to be a lot of different opinions on the subject.

I always do, annually.... Our vets has a membership club so (although I pay a sub monthly) I then don't have to pay for jabs or annual health checks, and get discounts on any treatment they have. The annual check when they have the jabs has sometimes shown the vet problems I hadn't spotted, so I think it's well worth doing. My cats are wanderers and have lots of dealings with other cats and I wouldn't want them to pick up anything nasty. I have a flu jab, so do they!

I always have and always will. Our cat now goes to kennels when we go on holiday and they won't take cats who aren't up to date with injections.

My friend has just lost her cat to complications after cat flu. She hadn't had a booster in recent years. I just couldn't take the risk.

A controversial debate at the moment with owners wondering shall I, or shant I. Probably dammed if you do and dammed if you dont. My vet only gives bi annual innoculations anyway, apart from 'lepto'. However, I will be opting for the titer test with my dogs next year to check on their level of immunity, but I guess they will still need the lepto jab as I believe it rarely lasts more than 12 months.

I must admit with my dogs that lepto is my main concern, especially as I live amongst farm land with drainage dykes and hence multiple rats.

Titer tests only show that an animal is immune to something, but not what. The antibodies present can be there as a result of any mild infection.
Vaccinate without question.
