Many thanks JMR27. This puzzle is in a monthly paper called "Mature Times". It is offered free of charge at our local library. Usually, I have no trouble but this month, I made an error and then I just could not see the wood for the trees. I will have another go but may be back for more help.

Hi MLN.Rugby and wickham and thanks for replying. I thought the Mature Times was connected to The Times newspaper but it appears to be a separate entity.
