Sign Language

Not quite sure where to have put this question. I am really interested in learning sign language, but don't really have the time to study it as a course. Is there anywhere on the internet where I can learn some of it, or a book that teaches you? Thanks

also be aware when you do learn to sign that just as there are regional dialects, so there are 'regional' signs although the link posted by d0gsb0dy looks very good, I am going to check it out later, but think I need to go in via IE rather than Firefox as it didn't look quite right.

This one's quite good too, I've started with the alphabet which a friend taught me (in the pub!), if you know anyone who can teach you, it's easier to understand sometimes.

yes there is a difference between BSL and ASL - not sure how much of a difference as I studied BSL.

A lot of Americans only use one hand and it is quite different.  My friend whos deaf can't understand it at all, he says it's really confusing.
