ON SSP until March and been offered anew Job to start Monday. Can I still claim SSP?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It is definitely possible to have two jobs and receive SSP from one employer whilst working for another. A broken leg would stop me doing a driving job for example but I could still sit at a desk and do clerical work.
The present employer would take a dim view if the questioner's new job were similar to the current one, it was being undertaken during the same working hours as the current one or their contract placed a restriction on the type of other employment allowed without consent being given.
