Quote for doing up bathroom
I was given a quote of 750 by the guy who may do up our bathroom. Just wanted to know if its a reasonable quote.
The total job includes tileing the floor and removing old lyno, tileing the whole of each wall and removing a few old tiles previously up, putting in new radiator and removing old one, putting in new toilet, sink and bath and removing the old ones, adding a double shower curtain to new bath. Everythings been ordered the quote was for his labour not the items.
Thanks.

if this person has been recommended to you or you have seen his/her work that seems very reasonable.
did you get alternative quotes to compare with? or maybe ask the person how long it will take and see if you feel the day rate comparison is fair (to both of you)
my plumbing mates will not touch a bathroom for less than 400/450 cash. that is swopping like for...

i am inclined to think the price is on the cheap side now, because the tiling is so time consuming.
we had a new kitchen fitted at xmas and the company wanted 650 ,labour only, to lay 26 sq. mts of floor tiles

Sounds cheap to me...the people I work for make bathrooms into wet rooms or shower rooms.
They visit the site.. create drawings...make up a schedule of work...apply for any planning permission that may be needed... invite contractors to quote...arrange any grant monies that may be available...oversee, and sign off the work when completed.
We usually get three quotes for every job...and complete a bathroom in 4-5 days.
The contractors average quote is 4,500

after being made redundant i started off charging £10.00 p/h as a bathroom fitter just to get by- i quickly discovered i wasn't getting by!
i now charge £17.50 p/h and work out hours required as below
strip out bathroom 8hrs
light jigging of pipework 4hrs
fit bath 4hrs
fit basin 4hrs
fit w/c 4hrs
tile all walls 32 hrs
grout 4hrs
finish touches 4hrs
obviously this is a simplified version, but it gives you an indication - straight out, straight in is £1200.00 + £100.00 for fittings etc = £1300.00.
it would be interesting to see how the OP's bathroom turned out and if his fitter is still trading
