Sometimes my cats lip gets very swollen. This goes down after about a week. It does not seem to hurt him or affect him eating etc. I tried to find out online what it could be and came to the conclusion of rodent ulcers after looking at the pics. I feel really sorry for him even though it does not seem to affect him. This can be controlled with steroid injections for the rest of his life but this can have long term effects. Has anybody had experience of this with their cat. I know it is definitely something he is allergic to outside as it only flares up when he has been outside, any advice?? My cat is insured so I could get him the injections. TIA.
It's worth going to your vet - my cat has similar symptoms from time to time. The first time he came in with a fat lower lip, I thought he had been stung (as he's a great one for jumping up and catching flying insects). However more recently the vet suggests that it's some sort of allergic reaction, but he can't say to what - a short course of treatment cures it.
