Does anyone know how to get marker pen off photographs spoiling the pictures.i've tried scanning photo to paintshop pro and it gets rid of the pen but ruins the background.any tips will be gratefull.

im not 100% sure this will work so try it on a spare pic you have marked yourself first.

spray hairspray onto a cotton bud and dab very lightly at the marker...do not rub or let it drip as this will take off the ink too

if this isnt successful, you could try nail varnish remover...i know these things work as remover, but never done it on photos.

if you are wantting to scan and edit the photos - scan normally and use the clone tool - this create a small 'blob' identical to the background area you clicked on, which then is used to cover the marker pen marks

Methylated Spirits removes marker pen from a DVD so you could also try that on an old photo. Use a small, fairly dry brush for starters.

My ex is a photographer and if he had to clean negatives or photos he always used lighter fluid - the solvent cleans the mark and it evaporates so quickly that it shouldn't cause any damage.
