Becoming a train driver on London Underground

Where can I apply to become a driver on London Underground? Obviously I would need to be trained first.

I went into Google and searched on "London Underground" and found their site.

I scrolled to the bottom of the page and it I clicked on "jobs" and got this page

Easy eh ! In fact it took me longer to type this text than it did to find the web page.

I know what the tfl website is. In fact I joined their job mailing list so every day I get an email form them. But they are never advertising vacancies in this area.

Sites like http://www.traindrivertrainee.com have good information on how to become a train driver, however you will have to find a vacancy first which will always be on the tfl careers site. They probably wont be advertising for external candidates for some time now, so the only other way is to join london underground as platform staff, and then work your way up....
