Easiest way to get tape onto a computer is to first copy the tape on to a DVD using a DVD recorder connected to your TV.
I have both a VHS and DVD recorder connected to my tv, and I can easily copy a tape to DVD using this method.
Then when it is on DVD disc just put the DVD disc in the PC and copy the contents of the DVD disc onto your hard disk.
