I have a tank with angel fish and little gravel cleaners, bronze corries.I got some snails free from the pet shop with a plant, but I have come to love the little bugs!
The other day,the thermostat broke and the temperature plummeted, but the snails where what drew my attention to it cos they started to gather near the top of the tank in a kind of inverted V shape.
Anyone know why?
I have a new thermostat and the temp is now correct but some are still doing it.Odd but fascinating behavior!
Maybe the fussy bugs made a V to say,
" This is VERY bad..." or
" It is VERY cold" or
" The thermostat is VERY broken" or
" This V is just a coincidence, we're too cold to do the circus!"
...
Imagine that, circus snails?
Maybe they're randomly sticking to the window because it is the portal to the warmer outside world...
they instinctibvely climbed upwards to where they could find the right tenperature, which would be near the top as heat rises. They are perhaps still doing it as they liked the view up there
I was beginning to think they may of been giving me the V lol
Dot,I think you are right, after all it must get boring, some are so big though, when they fall off you think oof poor thing after all that effort!
Things settling down now, though the fish keep giving the new thermostat the evil eye, either that or they are completely mesmerized!!.
