Is Paypal your Pal.?

Some months back, I placed an order with a firm which only accepted payment via Paypal.Consequently I registered with Paypal and was satisfied with the outcome. (Goods were delivered and my Bank a/c debitted accordingly.)

To fully appreciate my question you need to know that my registration with Paypal was before I changed my E/mail address as was necessary when updating from a 'dial-up' Internet connection to Broadband.

My grievance is that Paypal ( its computer programme) will not allow me to change my E/mail address and in effect suggested that I should re-register. However whilst it accepted my re-registration with a new E/mail address and password, it refused to accept my Debit card details which it alleged were in use by another person; and requested me to provide another a/c number. ( How can I if I've only got one.? )

Nevertheless I have got around the problem by now ordering further goods against my original E/mail address.; which I no longer use ; but my home delivery address remains as originally given to Paypal. Hopefully I 'll get the ordered items ( curtain draw rods from Curtainsware.com) although I am realistic enough to appreciate that a confirmation of my order will be E/mailed to my former Internet address..

Ron.

you should be able to get passed this problem by simply closing your origianl account . and then when that account is fianly closed you should be able to give your information to your new account.

i found that i can order via paypal without even holding an account however this by means of credit card not debit card " thought it best to menstion this as it may not be possible with debit card" ..
I just logged into my Paypal account to check. if you go to "my account" you can "add or change an email address".

S-C, I've tried clossing my original a/c and it 'll not let me.

sara3, You are right, it does say that you can add or change your E/mail address. In fact it suggests that you can have seven addresses against the one a/c. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work.

I changed my e-mail address no problem a couple of months ago. Have you tried the live chat with "Louise", you will find her under "Help".
When did PayPal change the rules? AFAIK, you don't have to have a PayPal account to purchase things through PayPal - they have a page where you just enter your credit card details like any other e-commerce site...
when I changed my email address on my PayPal account. I clicked on "Profile" at the top of their home page once logged in, clicked to delete the email address that I previously used & then followed through to add the new email. It was all straightforward & no hitch

Hi fadeout73, I think perhaps I should have a tete a tete with Louise ( I am over eighteen, so I guess it should be alright.) Thanks for the suggestion.

MarkRae..It could be as differentiated by S-C; I have a Debit Card; so perhaps there is a slight difficulty in this direction.

thelewisgang.....Nice to see your name come-up again in answer to another of my questions. I feel sure you will accept that I do try hard to get things right, but this one has got me beaten. I have gone through all the stages without success. Anyway, because I still have on my laptop ( not this desktop in present use) my old E/mail address, I have now had confirmation that my order for Curtain Pulls has been processed.

It isn't - I've just checked.

I strongly suspect that you didn't actually realise that you didn't need to sign up for a PayPal account in order to pay for something through PayPal...

You are quite right MarkRae.....I didn't realise that it wasn't necessary to sign-up with Paypal for an account. ..which was some months back. Looks as if for the future I shall need to speak personally with someone at Paypal...as suggested by EDDIE51.

Hi EDDIES1...I hope you are still threaded to my question beacause I now have a personal one for you.

I acknowledged your comments as being very helpful and proceeded accordingly. However , not having a telephone number for Paypal, I put an e/mail onto the site and spelled out my problem. The response was to telephone 09116991012 at £1.50 per minute.

Is this what you had to do.? Pay out at a very high premium rate.

Best wishes ....Ron
