What p2p application do you use and why?

I use Ares Galaxy.

I hear that Limewire is good - quicker than Ares. Also, BitTorrent for downloading bigger files like movies and albums. Haven't tried them so don't know for sure.

I've tried most of them over the years, most are full of spyware, adware, or users will dodgy files.. It's WinMX for me (perhaps not the best in terms of choice/availablity of files.. but it doesn't slow your pc to a crawl like limewire and a few others).

Limewire is really good, very fast, and i've always found the songs i'm looking for, and Limewire always does a scan on the file to see if it's corrupt or not.

My friend's interests lie in TV shows that haven't been shown over here yet, and he uses Shareaza to Bittorrent new shows (ones that don't have a UK buyer or don't seem likely to be shown in a hurry!) as it's very fast, or eMule for older shows that haven't been released on DVD - the files have much greater longevity than on BT. He's tried WinMX, but not been impressed (for his needs - it may be great for music). Shareaza does connect to the same network as eMule, but rarely seems as sucessful.

Both Shareaza and eMule (and WinMX) seem to run fine with no slowdown or fake files or spy/adware, though he does have to turn them off when uploading to a website he maintains (as they seem to slow down the process of even connecting).

AFAIK Limewire connects to the Gnutella network, which Shareaza can also connect to, though as it rarely seems to have the sort of files he wants, he has the option turned off.
