What is it about Next ?

I really, really don't understand why Next is so popular. I think the majority of their clothes are nothing special, and I think of you are buying clothes in that mid-price range, stores such as River Island, Zara and Principles are far better. Next also seems to attract a lot of very rough looking people from council estates, who I assume believe they are buying in to a middle-class brand - which Next isn't. I also do not understand what posseses people to queue up at midnight to get in to a sale at 5am in the morning - and the majority of their sale items are only half price. The House of Fraser sale I think is one of the best around with suits being reduced from �250 to about �60 in many concessions - yet people dont queue up for hours in the early morning to buy (in my opinion) much better items with better reductions. So why do people like Next so much ?????

I have to add my comments here - I've had a few things from Next over the years and definitely, definitely find their quality lacking. The times I've had to stitch buttons and hems on trousers I've paid up to �45 a pair for, and cheaper trousers have not needed this maintenance.  Also, don't shout at me for saying this anyone over 35, but I think people of the late-30's-to-early-40's age bracket and older shop in Next thinking 'if I buy clothes in here, I'll look fashionable'.  Er, no sorry you don't, anything bought from Next sticks out like a sore thumb!

yeah I'm not a next fan I would never get up early to queue for their sales, which are rubbish and go on too long! If I want bargain clothes I head to primark! I do love river island though I must admit - they have gone a bit trendy trendy, but I still find all their clothes are keep a feminine and quite pretty.

As for offending people that live on council estates - I would agree that 'rough looking people' or tasteless people are not exclusively from council estates, but at the same time stereotypes do exist for a reason, and I don't think we should have to apologise for using them.  I think some people are taking offence far too easily here - jridgeback is commenting on the quality of clothes in Next not the taste and standard of living for council tenants!
