I HAVE A CAR TAXED TO THE END OF MARCH. I HAVE AN M.O.T. to be completed by 1st MArch.
However the car is not drivable due to an alarm fault. I do not wish to put the car through its MOT for this reason. Am i able to legally keep the car on the road TAXED but not MOTED without driving.
Is this a special case where normal rules do not necessarily apply.

Your car needs a valid tax disc,MOT and insurance to keep it on a road. No special cases exist for your scenario.

The alarm does not need to be working to pass MOT as it does not affect safety etc.

I would suggest that you put the car onto private land, declare a SORN, get car repaired then transported to garage to have MOT done, return car on transporter back to private property then nip to post office to get tax renewal.

disable the alarm.it does not need an alarm to pass an mot test.

mdoo98 - Where did you get information that states you can drive a car to get MOT without car having tax. All cars on highway should have valid tax. I think you are wrong but if you are right I will stand corrected.

If car has no road tax - there's a chance that it will be seized. (if being drove without vaild tax/mot) and your stopped by traffic police then it will be seized under section 165 of the road traffic act. Also, point's will go onto your licence ect

However

If you are fully road legal
-road tax in date
-MOT in date
-vaild insurance

then you will have no problems.

However, there is NO reason as to why you would be a "special case" and be exempt from any regulation(s)

Apart from the above, there is no other rules which apply.
