Old questions

Is it worth answering a question that is a few weeks/months old,I know the poster recieves an email to say they have an answer,I regularly browse through old questions and sometimes think I could add something but then I thought what would be the point if no one is going to read it.seems like  after a day or 2 your question disappears into the ether and nobody bothers withit any more?

also should questions regarding the workings of answerbank be posted in this section?

if you post an answer it brings the Q back to the top of the Most Recently Answered pile, which many people look at as well as the Most Recent Q's list. And as you say the original questioner is notified, so they'll get to see it too. So yes, go ahead and answer if you've got something worth saying. (Or, if in ChatterBank, even if you've got something not worth saying...)

Yep, this is the ideal place for questions about AB itself, though you can also click on the FAQ link at the very bottom of each page to see if your query is answered there.

I would agree with jno.

I posted a Q on AB in October 04, asking about 'brown ink'. I received lots of good answers at the time, then out of the blue received another answer from 10ClarionSt only last week, which was very useful & informative.

Yes lozzzz I would say it's worth answering - I've had several replies to old old posts & it's always nice.  Except for one that is who was having a go at a couple of us for complaining about the lack of helpful staff in DIY stores!!  I think she was having a bad day!!

fortunately for me I don't..I'd rather not get an answer,than a rude one.

perhaps I will answer an older one if I think I have something constructive or valid to add.  Even if its only them that read it, it might be of interest to them.

its also worth having a trawl through the "all unanswered" I found a couple there that i could answer that I must have missed on the first go-around

I have received replies to old posts too, even if i no longer need an answer i still read them. its the least i can do if someone took the time to reply to you. what burns my butt besides a flame about three feet high is replying to a post and getting absolutely no acknowledgement that they read your post or if it helped them. its pretty simple to say thanks or even take the three seconds to rate the answer.
