Hi.

I am thinking of going to Dahab next year. I love Egypt but not the 'touristy' parts and have visited a number of places 'off the beaten track'. However, I have not yet been to a coastal area. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you :-).

Dahab is wonderful - very small village and lovely ( prom type ) walkway along the sea front with bars restaurants and dive schools - there is some very cheap accommodation too - we visited one place ( for the loo - and to be nosey ) and it was heaven the lady in charge allowed us to look around - a very simple circle of about 10 chalets for two people basic with shower rooms -which we used - no cooking facilities all very clean - all the chalets looked into a very small village green type area with an open fire ( your kitchen ) this is where every one gathered each night to cook and drink and chat ( I think maybe the lady provided and cooked the food ) to the rear of the site was the equipment store with up to the minute diving stuff for lone or hire - any way the chalet was £5 per night yes that's for two! and it was right on the front - we went diving in the blue hole the world famous deepest free diving hole right off the coast line - we also took a camel ride along some of the roughest terrain you can imagine - some parts were so steep and so narrow we had to get off and walk the camels over in single file even they were scared and this was next to the sea too - oh bliss go to dahab X
