50d. Bobbin rack about to take some cotton.(5) C?E?L.
I think they are titanic and creel, but I'd like to know how the clues work.

45d bird = TIT, an attractive cut = A NIC(e)

50d about = C (common abbreviation for circa), some cotton = REEL

many thanks bibblebub but is a creel a bobbin I can only find it as a fish trap
According to my Chambers, a creel is also "a rack on a spinning frame for holding bobbins"
