Driveway

I want to be able to turn my front garden into a driveway. I have all the planning permissions and highways approval, vehicle crossover etc but just need to save a few pound and do the job myself.
Is it just a case of take up the turf and then put chippings down and thats it??
Anyone who knows please could you advise....
Many thanks

I suggest that you speak to the Highways Department at your local council. They will almost certainly have standards set by which the work must be done. Often that translates into using one of their 'approved contractors' whom they trust to know the required standard. The issue is the dropped kerb and the quality of the surface constructed over the verge/footpath. Since the land over which you will run this thing is part of the public highway, they have the power to decide who can dig it up.
