jammed MGF seat belt

The seat belt has jammed on my car.

I unclipped it, and it didn't reel back in.

This means it is the right size for me, but is jammed.

Is there any trick for releasing one of these things? otherwise I will have to book it in for a repair.

It's on the MGF, of that makes any difference.

I usually find a sudden hard tug releases them
