Price of laser eye surgery
7 Answers
I recently wrote a letter regarding laser eye surgery and got some very helpful replies, thanks again. I've got another question, I got leaflets from Ultralase and Optical express/the laser clinic. The prices are so different, for one called Lasik at Ultralase its 995 per eye, and one called wavefront which is supposed to be the most advanced its 1495 per eye, as opposed to Optical Express the Lasik is 395 per eye and the Wavefront 795 per eye. Does anyone know why this is? Is one place better than the other?

It is great and neither of us have had any bother but our friend had his done at Optical Express and has had a lot of problems. I know it is a lot more expensive but your eyes are precious and need the best care possible. Ultralase gave us 1st class treatment both before and after and the treatment itself was so easy. You are only in the laser room a few mins and it doesn,t hurt at all. hope this helps you.

I had Lasik with wavefront at Optical Express Bluewater 6 weeks ago. It cost 2500 in total to do both eyes. My wife was declined due to 'dry eye'. I was told the wavefornt would help my night driving vision. My left eye had instant 20/20 vision but the right has slowly gone out out of focus, which I'm constantly told is 'expected', although this fact is not mentioned on their pre op literature and is quite worrying as I have to drive to work each day. I have to admit the 'consultants' seem to know very little about what is happening in your eye post op but won't refer you to a surgeon for at least 3 months. At that stage you may have to have another op on the cornea or a lens inserted. So I am stuck with failing vision in one eye and cannot get an intelligent answer as to why this is except '' it is part of the healing process''. So although the op is fantastic if you come out with 20/20 in both eyes, be prepared for difficulties if you don't.
Can I ask if anyone else had this problem (sorry to intrude in your thread Linda) and did it resolve itself?

To update you. After 2 months the vision in my left eye has not improved and I'm now being referred for further corrective surgery. In the meantime Optical Express 'lost' the prescription sunglasses my wife ordered, kept us waiting over an hour while looked in every cupboard for them and then said, when we asked for our money back, it was 'not their policy' to refund payments made by debit card. They said a cheque would be issued within 21 days. After nearly 30 days, and many unfruitful calls to their customer service line, I was told the Manager would NOW be happy to credit my card! PLEASE BE AWARE OF OPTICAL EXPRESS! The aftercare is useless.
