NHS are to start transferring medical notes onto computers

I have noted that many people are receiving letters asking for permission to put all our medical records onto a computer system .

My question is "How do they do IT" my records for example are huge and as we know doctors writing is notoriously bad .Apart from that there is the time factor.

I would guess they will scan them and then send the scans to India , where someone who speaks poor English will tap the details into a computer screen.
We will be reading about this for months in the papers , as it turns into another government IT fiasco.

Though not having a good grasp on the English language might actually be an advantage when reading doctors notes!

I worked on a similar system for the Dutch health service - old records (some 150 years old, written in fountain pen) - weren't converted to text - simply scanned and stored as images.
