Water Problems after Replacement Taps

We have replaced a tap in our kitchen, when we turned the water back on, the taps upstairs just dribble out and the toilet seems to take for ages to fill up again, any tips of how to resolve this PLEASE

Does the new one work OK?
It sounds like the mains stop-valve has not been completely turned back open after the job was done.

The new tap is brilliant, and we have turned the mains stop-valve on full, the downstairs loo taps and toilet is fine, its just upstairs.

Have you got a header tank in your loft that serves the upstairs?

Yes we have.

WILLWONKER asked a question about the header tank, which I have answered, but don't know what to do about the header tank.

Have a look and see if it is full, if not it mybe that you have drained this tank and the ballcock is stuck in the closed position ie upwards, it can happen , but a shot in the dark.

It maybe that you have two, one large and one small, the large one will be your cold water supply, and small heating

Try this:- if you have two taps in your kitchen sink and the cold one is from your internal stopcock, place a piece of hose between the hot water tap outlet and the cold one ,open the hot tap first then the cold one go upstairs and turn on the taps and see if any flow happens, this proceedure normally shifts an air block.

I have been up in the loft and both tanks are full, as for the next question the tap we have in the kitchen in a mixer tap, so cannot do what you suggest.

Hello I've just been in my kitchen,I've also got a mixer,the mixer is still really two outlets coming through one pipe.Can you somehow put a container over the(like maybe a plastic milk bottle} and make it leak proof maybe wrapping some cloth round the tap and doing as I said, probably needs two people so as the container does not pop off
Of coarse an airlock might not be your problem,nothing ventured nothing gained.
